Our Mission
At Campground exists because most campground advice online is either outdated, written by someone who hasn’t left the city in years, or generated by an algorithm that has never smelled campfire smoke. We are here to fix that.
We publish practical, tested guides for campers and RV travelers across North America — the kind of information you would get from a well-traveled camping friend who happens to know every national park entrance road, every state park reservation quirk, and exactly which hookup pedestals you can actually trust.
What We Cover
Campground Guides — We research and review campgrounds near major national parks, forests, and recreation areas. We look at site quality, amenities, noise levels, access for different rig sizes, and the real experience — not the brochure version.
RV Tips — From your first time pulling into a full-hookup site to navigating a dry-camp boondocking setup, we cover the practical mechanics of RV camping. Hookups, leveling, power management, water systems, dump stations — explained without assuming you already know.
State Parks — State park camping systems are infuriatingly inconsistent. Reservation windows, permit requirements, and site quality vary wildly from state to state. We map it all out so you can actually plan a trip without a dozen browser tabs.
Family Camping — Camping with kids is its own discipline. We cover how to choose campgrounds that work for families, activities that actually hold a child’s attention past day one, and the gear and logistics that make the difference between a great memory and a disaster.
Camping Gear — Honest takes on the gear that matters: tents, sleeping systems, camp kitchens, lighting, and the miscellany that fills the back of a truck. We are not a gear review mill — we focus on what you actually need to know before buying.
About the Editorial Team
Articles are published under the collective byline “The editors of At Campground.” This site does not name individual authors. The editorial team comprises practical North American campers and RV travelers with first-hand experience in national parks, state parks, KOA-tier private parks, dispersed camping on national-forest and BLM land, and the reservation-system quirks of dozens of state agencies. We attribute work to the publication rather than to individuals because the site is intended as a long-term editorial reference rather than a personal-byline platform.
Our Editorial Approach
We do not accept payments for positive coverage. We do not accept free gear in exchange for reviews. When we mention a product or campground positively, it is because we think it is genuinely worth your attention.
We cite official sources — National Park Service, state park agencies, Leave No Trace — and link to the original documents so you can verify what we say. When something changes, we update the article.
