Marcus Delray — Lead Editor
Marcus Delray has been camping in US national parks for over 20 years, starting with family trips to Great Smoky Mountains as a kid and working his way through more than 40 parks as an adult. He spent three summers as a seasonal ranger interpreter in Shenandoah before shifting to writing full-time.
His specialty is the campground-level detail that most travel guides skip: which loops stay quietest on holiday weekends, which sites have the worst generator noise exposure, where the cell signal actually works, and which reservation windows are genuinely competitive versus easy to get.
Marcus covers campground guides, national park trip planning, and backcountry permit systems for At Campground. He is based in Asheville, North Carolina, and camps roughly 60 nights a year across the eastern US and periodic western trips.
